The Voice of Experience
I can remember my Father telling me repeatedly when I was a youngster; “There’s no substitute for Experience.”
Great, I used to think, but how do you get it, this magical Experience?
Or as one scholar put it, far more eloquently; “Experience is such a hard teacher because it gives you the test first, THEN supplies the lesson.”
One of the truly great things about BEC Welshpool is the range & depth of Experience it has…. right at your fingertips.
There’s no better example of this than our Vice-chairman & Secretary, Peter McIntyre. Peter has had what can only be described as an extraordinary career; successful & diverse.
Peter’s CV would take the rest of the week to recite. Suffices to say that he is a Certified Practising Accountant, an Associate of the Australian Society of Accountants, a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, the Australian Institute of Management…. & the list goes on. I’m sure you’re beginning to get the picture.

But, like the man on TV selling the steak knives was fond of saying; “Wait! There’s more!”
In Peter’s case, much, much more.
His experience includes, but is by no means limited to, Business Planning, Mentoring, Financial & Management Programmes & he’s worked across a vast range of sectors & industries.
“I’ve had a keen interest in Small Business for more than 40 years,” says Peter.
“I’ve spent a lot of time on Boards; among them as a founding Director of the Small Business Advisory Service; the body that eventually became the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC),” he says.
“I also set up the Small Business Committee at the Perth Chamber of Commerce & was then Chair of their Economic Affairs Committee.”
My point is that this remarkable man’s remarkable knowledge is still accessible & being actively used by the BEC.
Frankly, he's an inspiration
Peter strongly supports the initiative being taken by BEC Welshpool to provide a one stop shop for small business with a strong focus on essential accounting services, cash flow budgets, BAS returns and Taxation advice provided by Chris and Ross Ludwig CPA.
